These shelters were built in 1950. This series of three low south-facing shelters on a terrace, built into the slope of Princes Street are a prominent feature in the extensive urban gardens. The shelters are constructed in reinforced concrete, brick and ashlar with timber bars to unglazed windows and are representative of the post-war modernisation of one of Scotland's most prominent public spaces.
