Title
Shakspeare [Shakespeare]. Taming of the Shrew. Act III, Scene II
Description
PETRUCHIO: But for my bonny Kate, she must with me./ Nay, look not big, nor stamp, nor stare, nor fret;/ I will be master of what is mine own./ She is my goods, my chattels; she is my house,/ My household stuff, my field, my barn,/ My horse, my ox, my ass, my anything./ And here she stands, touch her whoever dare. [...]
After their wedding Katherine is ready to enjoy the feast, but Petruchio drags her away. The newlywed couple is in the middle, both looking angrily at one another. Petruchio is dressed in his mismatched outfit, whip in hand, ready to strike down to his wife. He pulls Kate towards the door on the left. Katherine wears her immaculate, rich wedding dress, and she is gesturing towards the right, where in the background a whole roasted chicken is being carried into the room. Around them members of the wedding party look on worriedly, and in the foreground to the right is Kate’s father, who can only shrug, since he has no claim over his daughter anymore. Behind the wedding party on the balcony, musicians continue the festivity.
