About the artist
Name
Suzuki, Kiitsu
Biography
Suzuki Kiitsu was a painter in the lineage termed Rinpa, known for its striking decorative techniques, inspired by Japanese native painting (yamato-e) and classical literature and poetry, especially in delicate depictions of plants and flowers. Kiitsu was a pupil of Sakai Hoitsu (1761-1829).
In Japanese culture a person's family name comes first, so this artist's name is written Suzuki Kiitsu.
