Title
Panorama, a view of Edinburgh and the surrounding country, (index key)
Description
A circular key identifying the landmarks and locations depicted in the accompanying Panorama views.
The text reads,
"The contemplation of this grand and delightful scene, and an earnest desire to represent it entire, were the first circumstances which impressed Mr. Barker's mind with the idea of a panorama. The public may now form a judgement of the comparative excellence of three views, reckoned by men of taste the finest in Europe, namely, Constantinople and Plymouth, which have been exhibited, and Edinburgh, which is now open...
A succession of views will be continued as usual. Open from ten till dusk. Admittance to each painting, one shilling. N.B. A person always attends to explain the painting."
