Mr Jackson was educated at St. John's College, Cambridge and graduated with mathematical honours. In 1861 he was ordained to the curacy of Berwick Upon Tweed and remained there as a Junior and afterwards as Senior Curate from 1861-1865. In 1865 he was appointed to St. James Espiscopal Church, Leith.
