Traquair House, reputedly the oldest continually inhabited house in Scotland, is located 4 miles south-east of Peebles in the Scottish Borders. The building originally served as a hunting lodge for Scottish Royalty, and dates from the early 12th century. It was substantially enlarged in the 15th and 16th centuries, but has been little changed since then. Historically the house has strong links with the Stuart family and the Jacobite cause.
