The text says 'Sikhs of all shapes, sizes and ages took to the streets of Leith yesterday to celebrate the community's wedding of the year. Singing and dancing they marched with the aid of the Atholl Youth Pipe Band to the Sikh Temple, Mill Lane, where the 19-year-old groom Mr Gurdave Singh, of Newcastle married Miss Sukdhave Kaur (19) of Edinburgh. The reception was held at Portobello Town Hall.'
The Sikh Temple or Gurdwara for Edinburgh and the Lothians is at Sheriff Brae, in the former St. Thomas's Church. It opened in 1976 and has a regular congregation of about 400, with more people attending for festivals.
