The Territorial Force of part-time volunteer soldiers was formed in 1908, and re-formed in 1920 as the Territorial Army. They were intended as a home defence force for service during wartime and not expected to serve overseas, although some did volunteer at the start of the First World War.
Melrose-Drover started as a wine merchant in 1872, and diversified into blending whisky and distilling gin.
