Title
Page from Leith Miscellany, volume V - Flensers in South Georgia
Date
1983
Leith Harbour in South Georgia in the south Atlantic was a whaling station run by Christian Salvesen Ltd between 1909 and 1965, during which time more than 48,000 whales were processed there. The abandoned station is still there, but visits are forbidden due to the risks from collapsing structures and asbestos.
