Annotation below item reads 'Kakewoquanaby (waving plume) an indian chief'.
This image is of the Reverend Peter Jones (Kahkewaquonaby), a Methodist missionary and a Chief of the Mississauga, the third-largest group of Native Americans (1802-56). He was ordained at 14 years of age and in 1838 presented a petition to Queen Victoria requesting the title deeds to the Mississauga lands.
