Title
The Ladies of Liberton Wynd - a poem
Description
Donald Campbell's poem is inspired by the work of Walter Geikie:
The Ladies of Liberton Wynd
The ladies of Liberton Wynd
Be they lassie, maiden or crone,
Are all of the original kind
Each one has a mind of her own.
A Queen may sit safe on her throne,
A duchess be wined and then dined
Such pleasures are simply unknown
to the Ladies of Liberton Wynd.
Strong liquor will aye be declined
for sobriety's bred in the bone.
They are neither uncouth nor unkind
and each one has a mind of her own.
