This World War 1 autograph book belonged to Anne Primmer who started it in 1914. In a 1916 cartoon by R. Pearson, a crying girl tangled in knitting exclaims "I wish they'd knit their own socks!" This is probably in reference to children being encouraged to knit comforts for servicemen.
Autograph books were very popular during the War, both with servicemen at the Front and civilians at home.
