This notelet forms part of a set sold in aid of the British Red Cross and the Order of St John.
Many Scottish regiments in World War I had pipers who would play as the troops advanced in battle.
Stationery was a wartime necessity, enabling contact with friends and family at home as well as those serving overseas. By purchasing Red Cross stationery, people were able to support the war effort through shopping.
