Cover illustration depicts toy soldiers in contrasting blue and red standing in formation playing drums, with three soldiers on white horses to the right. This piece was composed by Leon Jessel as a lively marching piano solo in 1897 and was made internationally available in 1911. It was also used in an immensely successful revue, La Chauve-Souris or The Bat, which toured Europe and was a big hit in Broadway. This helped popularise the piece.
