The cover illustration is of the town Fort Augustus which lies along Glen Alybn, otherwise known as The Great Glen or Glen More. The illustration uses muted colours to express a tranquil impression of a town at dusk. The illustration is like a portrait of a town with the outline of a frayed frame, torn away to reveal the Victorian splendour of Fort Augustus, with the Caledonian Canal flowing in front of the Fort Augustus monastery. Green hills lie in the distance behind the town with lush green trees and foliage in the forefront also. The title The Glen Albyn Lancers is inscribed along the top in an elaborate font against a sun set sky.
