Although having a father of Welsh descent, Peter Jones (1802-1956) was born in Canada and grew up with his mother's tribe, the Ojibway. There he was called Kahkewaquonaby, meaning 'Sacred Waving Eagle's Plume'. As a teenager, he was baptised and later became a missionary to the Indians. Hill and Adamson recorded him, when he was preaching in Edinburgh in 1845.
