The text says 'Willie Merrilees with Mrs Marion Swift and her husband. Marion is the adopted daughter of Roy Rogers, "King of the Cowboys". The adoption was "engineered" by Willie, when Marion was a child in Dunforth Home, Newhaven. The picture in the picture shows Willie Merrilees with Marion at Dunforth, and the Rev. John Douglas, then minister of Newhaven-on-Forth parish church, and chaplain to Dunforth.'
William Merrilees was the Chief Constable of Lothians & Peebles Police Force.
