Castle Wynd is a small street linking Johnston Terrace to Castle Esplanade, the area of open ground in front of Edinburgh Castle.

The Castle Esplanade is an area of open ground between Edinburgh Castle and Castlehill. The area is used for the annual Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
