Meisenbach, Georg

Biography

Georg Meisenbach was born in 1841 in Nuremburg. He was a talented draughtsman and began his career as an etcher. He moved to Munich in 1874 where he started experimenting with the lithographic process. In cooperation with other printers and financial advisors, Meisenbach developed a new form of 'grid lithography' and attained worldwide patents for it. He continued to experiment with the process for the rest of his life. He died in Munich in 1912.
