Billings, Robert William
Biography
Robert William Billings was born in London in 1813. He was an architect and artist, best known for his paintings of castles, cathedrals and churches. Although he was based in England much of his work was of Scottish subjects. His most famous work, The Baronial and Ecclesiastical Antiquities of Scotland, was published in four volumes and contained over two hundred of his illustrations. He died in Putney in 1874.
