Title
"Notes at the Shakesperian show at the Royal Albert Hall", from 'Gleanings from the "Graphic"' by Randolph Caldecott
Description
Actors in costume are drawn in little scenes throughout the picture's composition. There are three levels to the picture: actors and actresses in the first two; and in the upper level, trees, with the word "ARDEN" written on them, and a Tudor building with the sign, "The Garter Inn". Above the sign, is an open window, and the figure of a man with a bald head that is iconic of the playwright Shakespeare. At the bottom of the page are the handwritten words, "So much for charity", from the play, 'The Merchant of Venice'.
Beneath the picture is the title, "Notes at the Shakesperian Show at the Royal Albert Hall".
