Title
To the Light : At the engine from the start.
Description
Mr. Lloyd George is an orator who is always happy in his similes. Perhaps it is the Celtic strain which gives those happy and poetic touches to his utterances. He called the Austrian Empire a 'ramshackle empire.' The name stuck, much to Austria's indignation. Speaking in Wales upon the length and strain of the war period he likened our progress to that of a train through a dark tunnel. But the light appeared at last, small in the distance, but, nevertheless, the herald of the full daylight. His simile was apt, and, without claiming to be, the whole nation recognised in him the driver of the train to the light. His firm hand never wavered in the stretch of darkness, because he was sure that the nation would emerge from its dark passage."
