Description
A photograph of houses at nos. 116-7 The Vennel, Edinburgh. There are steps up to the building and a high stone wall beside it. Many of the windows are missing from the frames and the doors and several windows are boarded up. Three children are sitting on the steps outside the house. Other buildings can be seen down the street as well as a metal lamppost.

The Vennel is a narrow street in Edinburgh leading from West Port near the Grassmarket to Heriot Place near George Heriot's School. 'Vennel' is a Scots word meaning 'steep lane'.
