Portrait of Right Hon. John Boyd of Maxpoffle, Lord Provost of Edinburgh and member of the Edinburgh and District Water Trust. The book 'The Edinburgh and District Water Supply: A Historical Sketch.' was dedicated to him and other members of the District Water Trust. The group had requested the author to write the history of Edinburgh's water supply as it had never been comprehensively reported before this point.
