Jock's Lodge is an area of Edinburgh located immediately to the north of Holyrood Park. It was originally a separate settlement outside Edinburgh. The name is said to be derived 'from an eccentric medicant known as Jock, who built himself a hut there; the name first appears in 1650'
The Toll house was located on the junction of Portobello and Willowbrae Roads, it levied tolls on traffic travelling between Edinburgh and Musselburgh.
