Hay, George
Biography
George Hay was born in Leith on the 21s of June 1831. He was an artist and engraver who studied under Robert Scott Lauder alongside William McTaggart and Hugh Cameron. He became a full member of the Royal Scottish academy in 1876 and was elected secretary in 1881 and 1907. Between 1856 and 1913 he exhibited 132 works at the Royal Scottish academy and 2 of his works were posthumously shown in 1923. He was also a founder member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours or RSW
