Description
English Colony in Petrograd. It is such a beautiful little place, so prettily furnished & just the essence of comfort. We are certainly in luck. Mr. Lombard was just too kind for anything yesterday. We spent the afternoon & evening with him - revelled in a real English fire, comfie armchairs, hot buttered toast & such unheard of luxuries. And last night we slept in real beds & between sheets! The first time since we were first in Odessa, over 4 months ago. Another joy, we had a bath at the Chaplaincy yesterday, the feeling of that first real hot water bath was undescribable - words fail me! There are 2 very nice Sisters here & they are so good to us, we "sleep-in" in the morning & are waited on hand & foot. Changed days I can tell you! We're feeling tons better already. It's lovely slacking & doing nothing. After we get thoroughly rested we're going to sight-see.
22nd We went to the English Church this morning & in the aftern. we went to the Anglo-Russian Hospital. We had tea there & were shown all round. It is a fine building, the walls & ceilings all beautifully carved. It was given by some Prince or other for a Hospital - & is a sort of Diplomatic Hospital. They
