Oliver Twist is Charles Dickens' second novel and arguably his most famous. It was first published in a series of installments between 1837 and 1839. It is well-known for its social satire and its characterisation of London's criminal underclass.
Fagin is a manipulative character who runs a school for petty thieves where Oliver finds refuge.
Oliver Twist has perhaps the most famous of Dickens' lines when living in a desperate workhouse he dares to say one mealtime, 'Please, sir, I want some more'.
