The Pickwick Papers was Charles Dickens' first novel. It was published in monthly installments between 1836 and 1837 and it brought Dickens' writing to the masses.
Samuel Pickwick was a retired businessman and founder of the Pickwick Club. The Pickwick Papers follows Pickwick and his friends as they travel around England in search of adventure.
Mr Jingle was a scoundrel who Pickwick met on his travels. He later meets up with Jingle again when he is incarcerated in the Fleet Prison and pays off his debt so that he can be freed.
