The accompanying text reads: These easie [easy] ways of Swimming, or rather refinements, seem more for diversion than advantage; yet not withstanding there is not one of them but what may be serviceable in some of those numerous rencounters [encounters] which happen to Swimmers. As for Example, This may serve to disengage ones Feet from Weeds, and that after a free fearless manner, which shews [shows] the Swimmer to be Master of his Art.
