This picture shows the old Glasgow University building, now known as the Glasgow University Tower, on the Gilmorehill Campus in Glasgow's West End. Opened in 1870, the spire was added to the tower in 1883, 13 years after the building has opened. The building was originally designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and finished by his son, John Oldrid Scott.
