Biography
Methvens pottery was based at the Links Pottery at Linktown near Kirkcaldy, Scotland. The pottery had different owners over the years but is generally known as Methvens Pottery. It originated in 1714 making bricks and was owned by William Adam, the father of renowned architects Robert and James Adam.
Later in 1773 the company was purchased by David Methven, the manager of the pottery at that time. Later members of the Methven family took charge over the following years. In 1892 the pottery changed hands again and was purchased by an ex-employee, A R Young who had become a partner some twenty years earlier. Methvens closed in 1928.
