The Papal convoy makes it's way down Princes Street, Edinburgh. The Pope is travelling in the Popemobile. The street is lined with police officers in yellow jackets. Crowds of people stand behind barricades. Princes Street Gardens can be seen on the left and the buildings of the Old Town beyond it.

Pope Benedict XVI visited the UK from September 16th -19th 2010. This was the first official Papal visit to the UK, taking in events in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Birmingham. He visited Edinburgh on the 16th September.

Pope Benedict XVI was born Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger on 16 April 1927 in Marktl, Bavaria, Germany. He is the 265th Pope. He was elected on 19 April 2005 and celebrated his Papal Inauguration Mass on 24th April 2005.
