Description

A view of some of the buildings in St Andrew Square, Edinburgh. The classical styled building in the centre is owned by the HBoS banking group. It has a row of statues running along the roof line and flags at the base of it's columns. It also has a large Union Jack flying on top. Part of the road in front of the buildings has been sectioned off with barriers.

No. 38-39 St Andrew Square is the former headquarters of the British Linen Bank. It was designed by David Brice and built in 1851-52. It became a Bank of Scotland Building following a takeover by Bank of Scotland, and finally an HBoS building after the merger of the Bank of Scotland and Halifax Building Society.

St Andrew Square is located at the west end of George Street. It is home to the head office of the Royal Bank of Scotland. The Melville Monument, built in memory of Henry Dundas, stands in its centre. Edinburgh's main bus terminus is located on its east side.
