MacTaggart, William
Biography
William MacTaggart was born near Campletown in Kintyre and entered the Trustees' Academy in Edinburgh in 1852. His early works show the influence of the Pre-Raphaelite movement, but gradually he adopted a broader, more expressive style. Renowned as a painter of sea and sky in an impressionist manner.
