Description

Buzz Lightyear doll wearing a plastic space suit with a clear domed helmet. The body has jointed arms, legs and a retracting helmet. The toy has a voice box with a recording of the actor Tim Allen's voice as the character Buzz Lightyear, as in the film. The voice recording includes various parts of script for the character, e.g. "Buzz Lightyear reporting for duty'. A red button found on the toys chest can be pressed to extend a rocket pack found on the back.

The first Toy Story film reached cinemas in 1995 and won production company Pixar a Special Achievement Academy Award for making the first completely computer animated film.
Initially, parents struggled to find Toy Story merchandise for their children. This was due to the rights to produce characters from the film being given to the small Canadian company, Thinkway Toys. Larger toy companies had rejected the rights, thinking that the film wouldn't catch on, so Thinkway Toys were left struggling to keep up with overwhelming demand.
Buzz lightyear was an astronaut who came to life in a little boy's bedroom. The movie told of the rivalry between Buzz lightyear and another toy cowboy called Woody.
Complete with voice samples: "I'm Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Universe Protection Unit and "To infinity and beyond!" The toy also came with a laser beam, karate-chop action, and pop-out wings.
