Derek Roberts was born in Berwick-upon-Tweed, and studied at Edinburgh College of Art from 1966- 1971. Much of Roberts work is reflective of the remote surroundings at his home in the Pentland Hills. His works are introspective and contemplative, often evolving over a period of months or even years. Colour has always played an important role, carefully ordered and controlled, reflecting patterns and the moods of the landscape which is so personal to the artist.
