Title
Love's Invading
Description
Robertson was strongly influenced by the Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist art movements in his early works. This is one of five large paintings he exhibited in 1919 under the overall title of 'The Daughters of Beauty'. It illustrates a pagan scene of figures dancing ecstatically through a wood. To the right of the central nude figure is a portrait of the artist, Cecile Walton holding a rose, whom the artist later married, with her sister Margery on the left side.
