Description
An expressive artwork with floating shapes and bright colours. The canvas is spilt by a thick brown inverted L shape. Layered on top of the brown is a yellow formation of colour. To the left of the painting a group of brightly painted stripes float like flower petals. The work is a playful assortment of thick blocks of colour playfully organised across the canvas.

McLean has cited the effects of artists such as Miró and Matisse on his work. The joy of paint as a substance is very much the essence of McLean's work. McLean's treatment of paint ranges from delicate washes to thick impasto. Shapes have a narrative of their own with edges and curves, while the colour palette generates atmosphere and depth.
