Title
Lady with Japanese Screen and Goldfish (Portrait of the Artist's Mother)
Description
The oil painting shows the interior of a room highly influenced in its decorative style by Japan. A central figure of a middle aged woman sits in a side profile with her head facing down towards a table. On the table there is a large goldfish bowl, a vase of daffodils and some coloured threads. A large Japanese screen behind the woman dominates the picture, behind which a long case clock is just visible.
