Robert Younger acquired the St Ann's Brewery, Croft-an-Righ Lane at Abbeyhill in 1854 and the company was registered as a limited liability company under the name Robert Younger Ltd in 1896. He went on to produce an extensive range of stouts and heavy and light draught beers and soon expanded the business. St Ann's Brewery closed at the end of March 1961.
