Description
Round hut with open sided walls and tall, steep reed and palm roof. The house is surrounded by thick vegetation on one side, a picket fence to the left, and an open area of grass to the front. Inside the house can be seen a number of people sitting on the floor. behind the house is a tall flagstaff on which can be vaguely seen a flag, and in the foreground is a smaller flagpole with the royal standard.

The image is from the photograph album entitled 'The Cruise of the Equator' of Robert Louis Stevenson's travels around the Gilbert Islands and Samoa in 1889.
