Description

The view shows the frontage of a section of tenement buildings in the Old Town of Edinburgh. The houses have many small windows and wooden panelling. There is a row of peaked dormer windows at rooftop level. Several of the flats have washing strung outside their windows to dry.

Skinners Close was situated on the South side of the High Street between Blackfriars Street and South Grays Close. The timber fronted houses as shown in the view extended down the entire West side of the Close. Demolished under the Improvement Act of 1866.
