Description
Tall tenement buildings in Edinburgh rise above a stone archway. Sunlight spills through the arch and partially illuminates the stonework of the old buildings. There is a table with produce on it and a large urn positioned next to the archway.
The artist has mapped out a grid on the paper which is visible underneath the drawing.

Riddle's Court is situated on the south side of the Lawnmarket. It takes its name from 'Riddal's Land' dating from 1587 and was built by George Riddell, Wright and Burgess. The remains of the house of Bailie McMorran, built in the 16th century, are located here.
