Excerpt from page "Gayfield House 1796 - To be sold the well known and desirable villa in Gayfield. The house stands surrounded by ten acres of old grass lands, and commands one of the most agreeable views of the Firth of Forth. It is as near as all markets and South Hanover Street. For further particulars enquirer of Messrs Dundas and Robertson, St Andrew Square. Edinburgh Evening Courant May 28 1796.
