Excerpt from page "Davie Street - Chemical Works to be sold or let. That extensive Chemical Work situated in Nicholsons Street, Edinburgh which was established by the late Mr Davie in the year 1760 fir the manufacture of Sal Ammoniac and Sal Glauber and was an afterwards carried on by him in conjunction with the late Dr Hutton" E.E.C March 21 1811.
