Excerpt from page - Edinburgh Evening Courant 28th Feb 1807 " General Reid, Colonel of the 88th regiment who died in London a fortnight or three weeks ago, was 80 years of age and left a fortune of above £50,000 sterling. Three gentlemen are named executors, to whom he has left £100 each, the remainder of his trust, to be life rented by an only daughter, who married without his content, a Mr Robertson, whom failing, to her children,whom failing, to the College of Edinburgh....."
