Excerpt from page - "New Newhaven 1814 - To be sold that piece of ground consisting of about 126 feet in front and 200 feet deep lying between Annfield and the row of houses called New Newhaven. - There is a spring of water in the back part of the premises which with a little care would yield a constant supply of water in the warmest of seasons and as the ground is understood to abound in clay it might be advantageously employed as a brick manufactory". Edinburgh Evening Courant Feb 10 1814.
