Title
The Oak Tree (Kashiwagi) Chapter 36 from the "Tale of Genji" inspired series "Murasaki Shikibu Genji Cards"
Description
A Japanese lady in an elaborate kimono and floral headdress peers through the opening of a patterned fabric screen. The train of her kimono is being held by a girl. The woman has a small white cat on a lead, and in the cat's mouth there is a piece of paper, possibly a romantic poem. The cat seems to be giving the paper to Prince Mitsuuji who is on the other side of the screen. He is wearing a kimono and his hair is in a lobster tail topknot. He wears a sword in his belt and he is holding a football. Overhead a flowering cherry tree's petals float down upon the scene.
