Strathendry tower house was built in around 1600 by a family called Forrester. It is situated 2 kilometres west of Leslie in Fife. The property passed by marriage to a branch of the Douglas family in 1699. This family was related to Adam Smith on his mother's side. It is said that as a child Adam Smith was abducted by gypsies from the ground of Strathendry.
